Answers:Where in the world is the Ghost City Inn Bed and Breakfast, and how do I get there?From Phoenix, take I-17 north to Camp Verde. From there, take state highway 260 west to Cottonwood, where you'll turn left on state highway 89-A. Keep an eye out for signs pointing the way to Prescott/Jerome, and proceed towards Clarkdale and on up the hill to Jerome. Once in town, you'll see the sign on the left just before you enter the main commercial district. Parking is on-street, either along the curve immediately in front of the house, or in the gravel beside the road as you approach. Be careful not to park in front of a) red curbs, b) the neighbor's driveway, or c) anything with No Parking painted on it.
From Sedona, take state highway 89-A south to Cottonwood. Proceed through Cottonwood, staying on the 89-A and heading towards Prescott/Jerome. See above for directions for the rest of the drive. How far is Jerome from Phoenix? from Sedona? from Prescott? from Flagstaff? from the Grand Canyon?Jerome is about 110 miles from downtown Phoenix. Plan on a 2 hour drive if you're coming from Sky Harbor Int'l Airport, or 1-1/2 hours once you reach I-17 and Happy Valley road on the way out of town.Jerome is about 30 miles from both Sedona and Prescott. Expect to be on the road for 30-40 minutes if driving to and from Sedona, or 40-50 minutes if driving between Jerome and Prescott. Jerome is about 56 miles from Flagstaff. Expect to be on the road anywhere from an hour to an hour and a half depending on weather and traffic when driving to and from Flagstaff. Grand Canyon Village (at the south rim) is about 80 miles past Flagstaff, adding about 1-1/2 hours to your travel time. From Jerome, you can expect to be on the road for 2-1/2 to 3 hours depending on weather and traffic. Where am I supposed to park once I get to the Ghost City Inn?We offer only on-street parking in front of the Inn, in one of two locations. You may park either along the curve immediately in front of the house, or across the street in the gravel beside the road facing up the hill. Be careful not to park in front of a) red curbs, b) the neighbor's driveway, or c) anything with No Parking painted on it, including the concrete parking bumpers directly across the street from the house. Innkeeping has been a dream of ours since the early 1990's. We first came across the Ghost City Inn in February 1995 while visiting Jerome from Michigan. We discovered that it was for sale in March of 2001, and after investigating the possibilities, decided to jump in. We purchased the Ghost City Inn the following May. Allen is Jerome's Chief of Police so you can be sure you are staying in a safe place! There's more to the story, but if you'd like to hear it, well, you'll have to come and hear it first hand. Why is it called the Ghost City Inn? Is it haunted?The Ghost City Inn "may be" haunted, we will leave that up to you. Although it may be haunted, that is not why it is named the Ghost City Inn. Its name is linked to the history of Jerome, also known as Ghost City.When was the house built?541 Main Street was originally built about 1890 as a boarding house for employees of the nearby copper mines. It was later to become known as "The Garcia House" for a family that owned it for over fifty years.When did it become a B and B?The house was purchased in 1994 by a group of investors who were responsible for its refurbishment and conversion into a B and B.Can you accommodate special diets?We certainly can! Jackie can prepare a breakfast to suit most special diets (with advance notice). Visit the kitchen for more information on the food here at the Ghost City Inn.Is it very loud right there on Main Street?Although we do see a considerable amount of traffic here on Main Street, it is surprisingly quiet in the evenings and on through the night. Traffic really doesn't pick up again until after the breakfast hour has commenced. If you're a light sleeper, we recommend the Sunflower Room, as it is on the back of the house, and receives very little traffic noise at any time of the day or night.In general, what's the weather up there like?For the most part, temperatures range from 30's in the winter to 90's in the summer. It snows once in a while in the winter, but doesn't usually stick around for long.Can I make reservations online?Yes!Online reservations are available at the Ghost City Inn, as are good old fashioned person-to-person reservations, you choose what is convieniant for you. If you'd like something special in your room on arrival, do the following;Give us a call, let us know what you want and what your budget is. We can put together almost anything you can think of. Just remember, we are in a rural area, and if there is something unusual you require, we will need extra time to get it together. When are check-in and check-out?Check-in is from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m., if you know you're going to be arriving later than 6:00 P.M. call us, we can usually work something out. If you are not here by 6:00 P.M., and if we do not hear from you, a late check-in charge of $20.00 will be assessed as we will have to arrange for somebody to check you in.a call. Check-out is by 11:00 a.m. on the day of your departure - no exceptions.Can we come early and/or stay late?If you arrive before 3:00 p.m., please feel free to relax on the front veranda and soak up the view while you wait for us to unlock the front door for check-in.
