What's Cookin' at the Ghost City Inn? your cook, Jackie Muma Welcome to Jackie's kitchen, where you can meet your cook and find out what you can expect to see on the breakfast table during your stay with us.

Breakfast begins promptly at 8:30, and is a sit-down meal served to all guests at the same time. Feel free to assemble in the first floor dining room prior to 8:30 and mingle with other guests, or enjoy your coffee/tea (available by 7:00AM) on the front veranda while you wait. Normally, we start breakfast off with a cold buffet, consisting of fruit salad, yogurt, assorted cereals and the best granola. At about 8:45, the main entre is served, and while Jackie is continually experimenting with new recipes, some of the house specialties are listed below:

  • Decadent French Toast, which is strawberry cream cheese stuffed caramelized french toast served with fresh strawberries and real whipped cream.
  • Southwest Strata, which consists of flour tortillas cheese, salsa and an egg and cream mixture which is baked to a golden brown. Great with salsa and sour cream! We usually serve this dish with maple sausage and a southwest style potato dish.
  • Maple Sausage Strata, a egg dish made with maple sausage. Huge servings make this dish a complete meal!
  • Secret Recipe Chocolate Chip Cookies, served for check-in, between 4:00 and 5:00 p.m., or until they're gone. Be ye warned, these cookies are addictive!
  • Black Russian Cake has become one of the house cakes, and is also served during check-in, between 4:00 and 5:00 p.m. Like the cookies, this cake is also habit-forming.

Be sure to check back from time to time to see what else Jackie's been working on!

We have recently won Arrington Journal's "Best Country Breakfast" award for 2001. This honor was bestowed upon us as a result of the number of guests who provided feed-back to Arrington Journal. Thanks much!!
